After launching a military operation against Iran on February 28, Israel managed to establish control over the country’s airspace within the first 24 hours, shaping the further course of the campaign, a representative of the Israel Defense Forces press service, Major of the Reserve Anna Ukolova, stated in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

According to her, on February 28, Israel, together with the United States, began a military operation against Iran aimed at neutralizing threats.

"Within the first 24 hours of the operation, air superiority over Iran was achieved, allowing us for the past three weeks to strike military and strategic targets of the regime without significant difficulty, including in Tehran," she said.

During this time, according to the IDF, more than 4,400 combat sorties were carried out, and over 7,400 targets were hit.

"Among the key targets of our strikes are Iran’s air defense systems, 80% of which have already been disabled, as well as missile launchers. More than 70% of these launchers have been put out of action, significantly affecting the IRGC’s ability to launch missiles at our cities," Ukolova noted.

She added that Israeli forces are also carrying out targeted eliminations of members of Iran’s leadership and command.

In particular, according to her, this week, Ali Larijani, Iran’s de facto leader, Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, and IRGC spokesperson Ali Mohammad Naini, who oversaw propaganda and played a key role in suppressing protests in Iran, were eliminated.

Militants and commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Basij formations were also eliminated.

"Another key achievement is the strike on Iran’s ability to produce new missiles. According to our data, they do not currently have this capability," the IDF press service concluded.

The Israel Defense Forces plan to continue the military campaign against Iran for several more weeks.

At the same time, the United States acknowledges differences in approaches to the war: Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has noted that Israel focuses on eliminating Iran’s leadership, while Washington prioritizes destroying military infrastructure.

US President Donald Trump previously stated that the United States had effectively won the war against Iran, but emphasized that the operation is still ongoing and pressure on Tehran will continue.
