US President Donald Trump has said that the US has effectively won the war against Iran. Now the only question is when the fighting will end, CNN reports.
"I think we’re in very good shape – the main thing is we have to win this thing, win it quickly, but win it," Trump told reporters.
According to him, many commentators already consider the conflict to be over, and now the only question is when the US will stop the operation.
The US President also said he did not want to allow the threat from Iran to return.
He suggested that the country needs new leadership capable of rebuilding the state.
"We don’t want to let it regrow, and ideally would like to see somebody in there that knows what they’re doing – in other words, they can build a country," Trump said.
During a speech in Kentucky on March 11, the US President addressed his supporters with a statement that the war had actually ended at the beginning of the operation.
"We won. We won, in the first hour it was over, but we won," he said, without providing specific evidence.
At the same time, there are different assessments within the Trump administration regarding the duration of military operations.
The US President himself did not answer journalists' questions about whether he still considered it possible to end the war within four weeks.
US and Israel's war against Iran
Since February 28, the US and Israel have been conducting a military operation against Iran.
In the first two days of the war, the US spent $5.6 billion on ammunition, much more than planned.
In response, the Iranian regime is striking countries in the Middle East. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Azerbaijan, and even Türkiye have been attacked.
Against the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East, Iran blocked the passage of ships, including oil tankers, through the Strait of Hormuz. This led to higher oil prices and, as a result, higher logistics costs due to the rise in gasoline prices.
In addition, Iran could have mined the Strait of Hormuz. In response to this information, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth announced that the US would launch relentless strikes against Iranian ships in the Strait.
According to Western intelligence, Russia is helping Iran with drone tactics tested during the war in Ukraine to strike targets in the US and the Persian Gulf countries.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had sent interceptor drones and a team of experts to protect US military bases in Jordan.
US President Donald Trump said that ending the war with Iran depends on his will. According to him, it will end at any moment when he wants it to.
