Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, who joined Nottingham Forest on loan from Arsenal at the end of the transfer window, has not been included in the English club's squad for the group stage of the 2025/26 Europa League.

Why Zinchenko is missing from the European squad

UEFA's official website published Nottingham Forest's Europa League roster. The squad includes 22 players, but Zinchenko's name is not among them.

On the left side of defense, the team only has 24-year-old Welshman Neco Williams, along with alternative options Temitayo Aina and Nicolo Savona.

Zinchenko joined Nottingham Forest after the club failed to sign Atlético Madrid defender Xavi Galán at the last moment. The move took place on the summer transfer window deadline, on loan until the end of the season.

Nottingham Forest in Europa League

The English club secured a spot in the Europa League group stage after Crystal Palace was relegated to the Conference League, finishing seventh in last season's Premier League.

In the group stage, Nottingham Forest will play eight matches: the first on September 24 against Spain's Real Betis, and the last on January 29, 2026, against Hungary's Ferencváros.

Where Zinchenko can play

Despite being absent from the European squad, Zinchenko remains available for Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup matches.

After three Premier League rounds, Nottingham Forest is in 10th place with four points.

Zinchenko is expected to make his debut for his new club after the international break. The next match is on September 13 against his former team, Arsenal.
