Ukrainian footballer Oleksandr Zinchenko will miss the start of the Europa League with Nottingham Forest due to UEFA squad registration limits, reports The Athletic.

Zinchenko left out of the Europa League

The versatile Ukrainian had a chance to be included in the 25-player squad, but UEFA limited the team to just 22 players.

The reduction was due to a rule requiring at least four homegrown players who spent a minimum of three years at the club academy between the ages of 15 and 21.

Nottingham Forest had only one such player, forcing the squad reduction, and Zinchenko ended up outside the list.

Transfer details and the new coaching staff

Zinchenko joined the Tricky Trees on loan. He is the second new signing not included in the Europa League squad. Along with him, Omari Hutchinson was also excluded.

Nottingham Forest also got a new head coach, who has already led the team in preparations for European and domestic competitions.

The UEFA squad situation presents a serious challenge for the club, as some key players remain unavailable for official Europa League matches.

Consequences for the team and Zinchenko

Zinchenko's absence from the Europa League squad means he will not be able to help the team in the first group stage matches.

For the Ukrainian player, this is also an opportunity to focus on the English Premier League matches.

The first game under the new manager will be against London's Arsenal on Saturday, September 13.

Zinchenko still has a chance to play in the Europa League. If Nottingham Forest reaches the playoffs, the club can register three additional players in February. However, there is no guarantee that he will be among them.
