Zelenskyy ends Canada visit ahead of schedule – CBC News

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is cutting his visit to Canada short following the massive overnight missile attack on Kyiv that took place on June 17, according to CBC News.
Sources in the Ukrainian delegation told the outlet that the president will return to Kyiv immediately after concluding talks in Kananaskis. The planned press conference in Calgary has been canceled.
Another reason for shortening the visit was US President Donald Trump’s decision to skip Tuesday’s portion of the summit agenda.
G7 Summit in Canada
On June 16, the G7 summit kicked off in Alberta, Canada, with leaders from the US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the EU, and the UK in attendance. The main topics of discussion included the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
US President Donald Trump left the summit early due to rising tensions in the Middle East.
According to Bloomberg, during the meeting, G7 leaders were unable to persuade President Trump to ramp up sanctions against Russia.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the next G7 summit will take place in 2026 in the city of Évian-les-Bains.
