Under the administration of elected US President Donald Trump, the war between Russia and Ukraine would end sooner, although there is no exact date, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,

According to Zelenskyy, he had a constructive interaction with Trump, during which the Ukrainian side had the opportunity to present its position on peace negotiations.

"He (Trump - ed.) heard the basis on which we stand. I didn't hear anything against our position," the President noted.

Zelenskyy also explained whether Trump had set any conditions for Ukraine to participate in negotiations with Russia.

"We are an independent country. During this war, both our people and I personally in negotiations with the US, with Trump, Biden, and European leaders, we proved that the rhetoric of 'sit down and listen' doesn't work with us," Zelenskyy emphasized.

At the same time, the President said that under Trump’s administration, "the war would end sooner."

"For us, just peace is very important, that there is no feeling that we lost the best for the injustice that was imposed on us. The war will end, but there is no exact date. Undoubtedly, with the policy of the team that will now lead the White House, the war will end sooner. This is their approach, their promise to their society, and it is very important to them," Zelenskyy added.

Trump’s intent to end the war in Ukraine

Recently, the Associated Press reported that according to Trump's statements, on his first day in the White House, he would have to do a lot, including bringing Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Trump allegedly held phone talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, November 7.

According to The Washington Post, they discussed the war. According to a source, Trump advised Putin during the conversation not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of Washington’s significant presence. Additionally, the newly elected US president expressed interest in further discussions to resolve the war in Ukraine as soon as possible.

Also, according to a source from Fox News, Donald Trump may soon appoint a special representative for peace in Ukraine, who will lead negotiations with Russia to end the war.
