President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Rome. Tomorrow, July 10, the next meeting of the Coalition of the Willing will take place in the Italian capital.

What to expect from the visit to Rome

Recently, the president held a phone conversation with the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. According to Zelenskyy, they discussed expectations for the upcoming meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, which will be held in Rome.

It is also worth noting that the Élysée Palace announced that during the meeting, the issue of sending deterrent forces to Ukraine will be raised. However, this is only possible after a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

Meanwhile, media outlets reported that during his visit to Rome, Zelenskyy will also meet with his Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarella. According to journalists, the meeting is scheduled for 5:00 PM Kyiv time.

Coalition of the Willing

The Coalition of the Willing consists of countries considering the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine to deter Russia from another attack. However, given the active phase of the war, the deployment of European troops is not currently being discussed.

As explained by the British Secretary of Defense John Gieve, the Coalition's goal is to try to ensure safe skies, safe seas, security on the ground, and support for Ukrainian fighters.

The previous meeting took place in May in Kyiv. At that time, a number of key European politicians arrived in the capital: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Keir Starmer, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
