President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy supported the ceasefire between the US and Iran and addressed Russia, the statement by Zelenskyy reports.
The Ukrainian leader supported the introduction of a ceasefire in the Middle East, calling it "a correct decision that leads to the end of the war."
"This is the preservation of human lives, a rejection of the destruction of cities and villages, an opportunity for power plants and other infrastructure to function normally, and therefore this is the time and necessary conditions for diplomacy to deliver results," he said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine has always called for a ceasefire in the war being waged by Russia against our state and people.
"We support calm in the Middle East and in the Gulf, which opens the way for diplomatic work. Ukraine once again repeats to Russia: we are ready to respond in kind if the Russians stop their strikes. It is obvious to everyone that a ceasefire can create the right preconditions for agreements," he said.
He also emphasized the role of the international community in ensuring security.
"Different countries were involved in the negotiation process, and it is important that the US took this diplomatic step. Ukrainian expert military teams will continue to work in the region for the further development of security capabilities," Zelenskyy said.
The president added that the situation in the Middle East and in the Gulf has a global impact, in particular on the economy and the cost of living in every country.
"That is why security must be guaranteed, and the interests of every nation must be taken into account when determining post-war conditions. It is also essential to protect freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz," he stressed.
Zelenskyy called for active and coordinated actions by the international community.
