Zelenskyy urges U.S. to start joint weapons production
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the United States to start joint arms production, according to Fox News.
"When you produce for Ukraine and with Ukraine, you produce it also with Americans. So, the big parts will be production in your states," the President of Ukraine said in an interview with the American TV channel Fox News.
Zelenskyy also emphasized that collaborations on armaments manufacturing ventures could create more job opportunities for both Americans and Ukrainians.
Joint production of weapons with foreign partners
Since the initial stages of Russia's large-scale invasion, Ukraine has engaged in several discussions with international partners to collaborate in manufacturing diverse weapons and specialized equipment.
A primary agreement was forged with German firm Rheinmetall, and sources suggested that the new joint venture would have its headquarters in Kyiv. Eventually, the German Federal Antimonopoly Office authorized Rheinmetall's establishment of a joint venture with Ukraine.
Also on September 28, during his visit to Kyiv, French Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastien Le Coronneu met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The parties discussed strengthening Ukraine's air defense and the possibility of joint production of certain weapons.
