Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and American leader Donald Trump may have a phone call amid the suspension of US aid. The preparations are already underway, citing sources and Politico.

Politico, citing two sources, reports that the United States and Ukraine are working to organize a phone call between Zelenskyy and Trump.

The idea came up on Tuesday, July 1, when reports began to circulate that the United States had suspended arms supplies to Ukraine.

"The US is informing Ukraine (of the decision) today in Kyiv and a phone call will also be organized very soon between Trump and Zelenskyy," said a European diplomat familiar with the plans.

He added that the United States considers it not a pause or a suspension of aid, as it is in the process of determining how best to support Ukraine's defense.

According to RBC-Ukraine's source, the phone call between Trump and Zelenskyy was being prepared even before the reports about the aid suspension.

Pause in the supply of weapons to Ukraine

Western media reported earlier that the United States had suspended the supply of certain weapons to Ukraine. Later, the White House confirmed, explaining the pause as a priority for US national interests.

According to media reports, the United States has suspended the supply of artillery ammunition, Stinger, Patriot, and Hellfire missiles. According to the WSJ, this move even concerns weapons that were already in storage in Poland.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was in talks with Washington to clarify the situation.

The Pentagon said it was providing the US president with expanded options for military assistance to Ukraine. The State Department says that the United States has not stopped all arms shipments.
