A meeting in Washington between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and several EU leaders has concluded. However, the leaders remain inside the White House, according to Serhiy Nykyforov, spokesperson for the Ukrainian president.

According to Ukrainian presidential spokesperson Serhiy Nykyforov, although the formal talks have concluded, the leaders remain inside the White House to continue dialogue, possibly in another format.

Sky News reported that the leaders moved to the Oval Office.

Talks in Washington

On Monday, August 18, the White House hosted negotiations between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump, and several European leaders.

The discussions focused on prospects for ending Ukraine’s war with Russia.

Earlier the same day, Zelenskyy and Trump held bilateral talks at the White House.

During the meeting, Trump said that allies would soon propose security guarantees for Ukraine. He also claimed that Vladimir Putin had agreed to provide his own security guarantees.

Trump further stressed that US assistance to Ukraine would continue regardless of the outcome of the White House talks with Zelenskyy and European leaders on August 18.
