President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will participate in an online summit of G7 countries, which will take place on February 24, according to the G7 press service.

The summit will be dedicated to the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukrainian territory.

"On February 24th, on the occasion of the second anniversary of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, will chair a video-conference meeting of the G7 Heads of State and Government, the first under the Italian Presidency," the statement said.

It is noted that as a result of the summit, a joint declaration will be adopted.

Support for Ukraine by G7 countries

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, G7 partners have supported Ukraine in all possible ways. In total, over the course of almost two years, more than $30 billion has been provided.

At the end of 2023, the Western press reported that the United States proposed to G7 countries to confiscate frozen Russian assets totaling $300 billion for the benefit of Ukraine. The initiative was supposed to be agreed upon by February 24, 2024, but currently, this issue is still being discussed among partners.

As Deputy Minister of Justice Iryna Mudra has stated, this year Ukraine expects the transfer of $4 billion from frozen Russian assets in G7 and EU countries.
