Ukraine, together with Europe and the USA, must not allow Russia to deceive the world again. The Russian army is preparing not for the end of the war, but for new offensives, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy states.

The Head of State thanked the leaders of the EU for the adopted statement in support of Ukraine and diplomacy, which can help to end the war with a decent peace. The EU supported Ukraine on the eve of the meeting of US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

"Indeed, we all support the determination of President Trump and must together form such positions that will not allow Russia to deceive the world once again," the president noted.

According to Zelenskyy, the Russians are not preparing for the end of the war, but instead may be preparing for new offensive operations at the front.

"We see that the Russian army is not preparing for the end of the war. On the contrary, they are engaged in such movements that indicate preparations for new offensive operations. In such conditions, it is important that nothing threatens the unity of the world," Zelenskyy stated.

The president emphasized that issues concerning the security of Ukraine and Europe are discussed by all participants in the process.

Zelenskyy added that for refusing to stop the killings, Russia must be held accountable. And while the Russians continue the war and occupation, Ukraine, together with its partners, must continue pressure through force, sanctions, and diplomacy.

Trump and Putin meeting

Let us remind you that Trump and Putin are to meet on August 16 in Alaska. Earlier, the US president allowed for the possibility that a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine would likely require “a certain exchange of territories.” But he also noted that Ukraine would regain part of the territories.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected territorial concessions. He stressed that Ukraine would not give its territories to the occupiers.

On Tuesday, August 12, EU leaders adopted a joint statement ahead of the Trump–Putin summit. They emphasized that the path to peace cannot be determined without Ukraine.

Only Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán did not support the statement. Instead, he proposed holding an EU–Russia summit.
