Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to negotiate with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. However, there needs to be an understanding of how the war will end, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
"Certainly, both the United States, President Trump, and the countries of the European Union believe that diplomacy is impossible without Russia, without Putin. And so I said: I am ready if we have an understanding of how this war will end," he said.
Zelenskyy once again emphasized the need for a lasting peace, which will be ensured by strong security guarantees, work on which is already underway with the United States.
"However, we will continue working to ensure that this is a shared understanding and vision. Even if Russia doesn't like something, we need a common vision among our partners. After that, we are ready for diplomacy," the president noted.
Ukraine-Russia negotiations
In recent days, there has been an intensification of efforts aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, involving key international players. Political leaders from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia have made a series of statements that can be seen as preparation for the beginning of the peace process and negotiations.
In particular, the Trump administration believes that in resolving the war in Ukraine, it is important to understand the positions of all parties. After that, work can be done on concessions.
Additionally, on February 5, Zelenskyy called the Kursk operation "very important" and did not rule out the role of the Kursk region in negotiations with Russia.
