President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today, April 17, had a phone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, according to the Telegram of the head of state.

The President noted that the Secretary General confirmed the convening of an extraordinary meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at Ukraine's request. It will take place on April 19 at the level of defense ministers.

"Grateful to Jens Stoltenberg and partners for their swift response. Ukraine needs immediate steps to strengthen air defense," the president wrote.

Zelenskyy also informed Stoltenberg about the morning strike by Russian forces on a hotel in Chernihiv and the consequences of Russian terror for Ukrainian energy.

The President and the NATO Secretary General also discussed the status of initiatives regarding the supply of ammunition to Ukraine.

Meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council

Recently, Russian forces have intensified attacks on populated areas in Ukraine using drones and missiles. Therefore, the country urgently needs to strengthen its air defense systems and the missiles for them.

President Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine wants to convene a meeting with NATO to discuss arms deliveries and air defense systems.

Today, Stoltenberg announced that on April 19, a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council will take place with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
