Assassination attempts and personal security
Russia has repeatedly attempted to assassinate the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to him, the threat has become a constant part of life that he has gradually had to get used to.
“When we talk about fear, you know, Russia has already tried to eliminate me several times. In a certain sense, I no longer feel the fear that I had at the beginning of the war. I have gotten used to it; it is part of my life,” he said.
Dialogue with Russia and Europe’s position
Separately, Zelenskyy commented on the topic discussed in Europe regarding the possible resumption of dialogue with Moscow. According to him, pressure on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin remains insufficient, and any negotiations are possible only if certain conditions are met.
“Putin is interested in humiliating Europe,” the president of Ukraine noted.
He emphasized that talks with Russia without real leverage will not lead to results and may only strengthen the Kremlin’s position.
Assassination attempts against Ukraine’s leadership
In 2024, Zelenskyy said that, according to intelligence and security services, about ten attempts on his life by Russia had been recorded at that time. In addition, Russia had carried out attempts against other senior officials of the country’s leadership.
In particular, former head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk said that two Iskander-type missiles were used to strike a command post he was heading to. According to him, there were many more such attempts, indicating the systematic nature of these actions.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy provided updated figures on Ukrainian losses since the start of the full-scale war, noting that around 55,000 Ukrainian service members have been killed during Russia’s invasion.
Zelenskyy also stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin fears only one person: the current US president, emphasizing that this leader’s position and possible decisions can truly influence the Kremlin’s behavior and restrain Russian aggression.
