Zelenskyy reveals how many missiles and drones Russia launched at Ukraine in one week
Russia launched hundreds of bombs and drones at Ukraine over the past week. The occupiers also attacked Ukraine with more than 20 missiles, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.
As the head of state noted, air raid sirens sounded almost daily across Ukraine this week. Just last night, air defense forces shot down around 50 attack drones.
According to Zelenskyy, over the past week, Russia used more than 800 guided aviation bombs, nearly 460 attack drones, and over 20 missiles of various types against Ukraine.
"Ukraine is not a testing ground for weapons. Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state. Yet, Russia continues its efforts to destroy our people, sow fear and panic, and weaken us," the president emphasized.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine needs more air defense systems, and the country is working on this with its partners.
Russia's new ballistic missile
This week, Russia used a new ballistic missile against Ukraine for the first time. The occupiers directed the strike towards Dnipro. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that it was an intercontinental ballistic missile.
There was speculation online that Russia had used the Rubezh missile for the first time. For more details about this missile, see the RBC-Ukraine article.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin claimed it was a test launch of the Oreshnik missile system. However, Ukrainian intelligence reported that the Russians launched a missile from the Kedr system at Dnipro.
Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukrainian military intelligence, explained that both names refer to the same missile — Oreshnik is the missile program, while Kedr is the missile system.
