Ukraine has made progress in negotiations with the United States on a peace plan, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a media briefing in Brussels.
"There is progress in our dialogue with the American side. For now, I don't have feedback on our latest progress. But in the coming days, we will definitely be able to say more," Zelenskyy said.
According to the President, the increasing frequency of meetings between Ukrainian and American delegations is also a sign of progress.
"For now, that's how I see it. Perhaps there is more optimism than realism here, but these are our realities. We live by fighting for ourselves and believe that we will succeed," the head of state added.
Ukraine–US negotiations
Last month, the White House administration proposed a peace plan aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
Although the original document contained 28 points, most of which did not align with Ukraine's interests and instead favored Russia, the plan has since been revised.
The updated version now includes 20 points.
Currently, the US peace plan includes a framework agreement, security guarantees, and a document focused on Ukraine's postwar recovery.
Recently, President Zelenskyy stated that the plan is expected to be divided into five separate documents. Once Kyiv is as close as possible to reaching an agreement with Russia, the Ukrainian leader will meet with US President Donald Trump.
In recent days, Ukrainian and American officials met in Berlin. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, who took part in the discussions, said that "a lot of progress was made."
Following the Berlin meeting, President Zelenskyy noted that Kyiv and Washington still differ in their positions on territorial issues.
Meanwhile, Axios, citing an unnamed US official, reported that a new round of Ukraine–US talks is expected to take place in Miami over the weekend, with military representatives likely to participate.
Media outlets have also reported that US and Russian officials may meet in Miami this weekend to discuss the possibility of ending Russia's war against Ukraine.
