Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to visit Bratislava. The only thing left is to agree on the dates, according to Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár.
He shared details of a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha.
"The head of Ukrainian diplomacy confirmed during our conversation that President Zelenskyy is interested in visiting Bratislava, so all that remains is to agree on the dates," Blanár said.
He also noted that during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko agreed that the next joint meeting of the two countries’ governments would take place in Lviv.
Robert Fico has stated that ending the full-scale war in Ukraine is only possible through negotiations rather than on the battlefield.
In addition, on June 19, Fico held talks with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During the meeting, the two sides discussed both issues on which they share common views and topics where their positions differ.
Ahead of the meeting with Zelenskyy, the Slovak Prime Minister said he intended to propose that the European Union establish a direct communication channel between Ukraine and Russia. He also expressed readiness to support the summit’s final communiqué on Ukraine.
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Fico also plans to discuss compensation from the EU for Slovakia’s expenses related to assistance provided to Ukraine.
