Zelenskyy orders officials to assess and aid regions hit by Russian strikes

In each region hit by Russia's massive overnight strike, authorities are verifying the accuracy of reports and assessing what communities actually need, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"I instructed (officials -ed.) to be in the regions, check what communities really need, and verify the accuracy of every report from the regions," the President emphasized.
Zelenskyy noted that repair teams, energy workers, and municipal services are already operating in the regions that require it. He also thanked rescuers from the State Emergency Service and the National Police.
"It is important that businesses are also helping. This is necessary so that communities and the entire country are supported by our entrepreneurs," the President added.
Zelenskyy said that today, October 5, he held meetings with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Head of Naftogaz, and all relevant officials to coordinate assistance for people and accelerate restoration work.
Russia's massive strike on October 5
On the night of Sunday, October 5, Russia carried out a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine, using drones, cruise missiles, and Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.
Lviv and the surrounding region were hit the hardest, first by drones and then by missiles launched from the Black Sea. Zaporizhzhia was also targeted, leaving tens of thousands without power.
Damage to power lines also left parts of the Cherkasy region without electricity. In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Russian forces struck critical infrastructure facilities.
President Zelenskyy stated that Russians fired over 50 missiles and around 500 strike drones, including cruise missiles, Shaheds, and Kinzhal missiles.
