In the night of Sunday, October 5, the Russian Federation carried out a combined strike on the territory of Ukraine. The enemy used various types of weapons to target Ukrainian cities.

RBC-Ukraine reports on the consequences of one of the largest Russian attacks.

Key questions:

  • Russia used Shaheds, Kinzhal missiles, and strategic aviation;

  • A casualty was reported in Zaporizhzhia;

  • Power outages occurred across Ukraine;

  • Lviv suffered the heaviest strike.

Weapons used by Russia

From the evening of Saturday, October 4, the Russian army launched groups of attack drones from more than five directions. Enemy drones were recorded in almost all regions of Ukraine. Air defense systems also engaged drones in Kyiv and Odesa.

In the night of October 5, the occupiers launched Kalibr missiles from ships in the Black Sea. The missiles flew from the south toward the western regions of Ukraine.

In addition, a MiG-31K fighter jet was in the air, striking the city of Lviv with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. The Russian army launched the missiles from the fighters at 06:30. They passed over northern and central regions of the country.

The enemy also used aviation — Ukraine was attacked with cruise missiles launched from Tu-95MS strategic bombers. Their main targets were also the western regions of the country.

Lviv

Lviv suffered the heaviest strike — first attacked by drones, then by Kinzhal and Kalibr missiles.

As a result of the attack, part of Lviv lost power. In addition, due to the enemy strike, public transport in the city is currently not operating.

Following the strike, multiple fires broke out in the city, including at the Sparrow Industrial Park. Heavy smoke has also been reported.

The local administration reported that as a result of the combined drone and cruise missile strike in Lviv region, two people were killed and two others were injured.

Zaporizhzhia

Zaporizhzhia also faced another combined attack by Russia overnight: the enemy launched drones and aerial bombs, carrying out at least 10 strikes.

According to local authorities, eight apartment buildings, eight private houses, and several non-residential buildings were affected by the attack. One residential building sustained significant damage.
