Zelenskyy on massive overnight assault: Russia strikes Ukraine with 50 missiles and 500 drones

Last night, Ukraine once again suffered a combined attack from Russia. The enemy used drones and various types of missiles, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.
According to him, the occupiers launched over 50 missiles and about 500 attack drones, among which were cruise missiles, Shaheds, and Kinzhals.
The Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Kirovohrad regions came under attack.
"As of now, it is known that around 10 people were injured due to the attack. Unfortunately, five were killed. My sincere condolences to everyone who lost loved ones because of this terror," Zelenskyy said.
The president added that in places where necessary, rescue and restoration work continues. He constantly receives reports from Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba, the heads of regional military administrations, and Serhiy Koretskyi, the head of Naftogaz. Zelenskyy emphasized that he expects the most prompt and high-quality work from government officials on eliminating the consequences in the affected regions.
“Today, the Russians again struck our infrastructure — everything that ensures a normal life for people. We need more protection, faster implementation of all defense agreements, especially concerning air defense, to deprive this air terror of any sense,” the head of state stated.
He also emphasized that a unilateral ceasefire in the skies is possible, and it is precisely what could pave the way for genuine diplomacy.
"America and Europe must act to make Putin stop," Zelenskyy added.
Massive attack on Ukraine
On the night of October 5, Russia carried out a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine, using drones, cruise missiles, and Kinzhals. The hardest hit was Lviv and the region — around 04:30 a.m. local time, the city was struck by drones, followed later by missiles launched from the Black Sea.
In the morning, Lviv was attacked by aeroballistic missiles, while strikes on other regions caused massive power outages. In Zaporizhzhia, tens of thousands of people were left without electricity; the Cherkasy region was partially de-energized, and in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, critical infrastructure facilities were damaged.
