Zelenskyy on end of war: We are closer to the end of the war
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the war with Russia is closer to its conclusion than many believe. He urged allies to strengthen the Ukrainian army, according to his remarks in an interview with ABC News.
"The plan of victory is strengthening of Ukraine. That's why we're asking our friends, our allies, to strengthen us. It's very important. I think that we are closer to peace than we think. We are closer to the end of the war," Zelenskyy stated.
He also mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin is afraid of the Kursk operation because he cannot protect his territory.
"It's true. He's afraid very much. Why? Because his people saw that he can't defend - that he can't defend all his territory," Zelenskyy noted.
The president emphasized that only from a strong position can Ukraine push Putin to end the war.
Zelenskyy's visit to the US and the Victory Plan
This week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy began his official visit to the US, where he is set to present his victory plan to President Joe Biden and both presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
Zelenskyy previously stated that this plan is aimed at securing rapid decisions from partners between October and December, without delays. He warned that failure to support the plan could lead to an excessively long war. The president emphasized that this autumn will determine what happens next in this war.
The specific contents of the Ukrainian victory plan remain unclear, with only its main provisions outlined by the Office of the President.
However, according to The Times, the plan includes four key elements: a request for Western security guarantees akin to a mutual defense pact regarding NATO membership; the continuation of Ukraine's operations in the Kursk region; and a request for military aid and international financial support.
