At the military parade in China on September 3, the evil that Ukraine is fighting against was present, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Uzhhorod.

"I believe the parade, where ballistic missiles were displayed, is definitely not about the past, but, unfortunately, about the future. In my personal view. Ukraine lost millions of people during the occupation by fascists and went through the entire struggle. Our grandfathers and great-grandfathers all fought against fascism," Zelenskyy said.

He noted that even during full occupation, everyone knew that fascism was evil and it would be defeated.

"Undoubtedly, today we are fighting such evil, which was also present at the parade in China. And we are fighting Russia’s stance on occupation; this evil will also be defeated. It is a pity that the cost is very high; it is human lives, and Ukraine is paying the highest price," the President emphasized.

China parade

On September 3, Beijing held a military parade to mark the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the war against Japan and in World War II. The event showcased the latest equipment and weapons of the Chinese army.

In addition to Chinese leader Xi Jinping, the parade was attended by Russian leader Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

On September 2, Putin and Xi held talks in Beijing, but no statements on Ukraine were issued following the meeting.

On the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, Putin stated that Russia did not start the war against Ukraine and that it would continue until the root causes are addressed.
