Russian President Vladimir Putin attended a military parade in Beijing commemorating the 80th anniversary of China’s resistance war against Japanese invaders and World War II, according to Russian media.

It is noted that leaders of foreign states will participate in the ceremonial events on Tiananmen Square.

According to Kremlin spokesperson Yuri Ushakov, Putin will be seated to the right of Chinese leader Xi Jinping, while the seat to his left will be occupied by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Afterwards, Putin will continue a series of bilateral meetings, including planned talks with the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, and with Vietnamese President Võ Văn Thưởng.

On August 31, Putin arrived in China for a multi-day visit.

On the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, Putin stated that Russia did not start the war against Ukraine and that it will continue until the root causes are addressed.

The final part of his visit will be his presence at a large-scale military parade in Beijing, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. China plans to showcase its latest weapons at the parade.

On September 2, Putin and Xi Jinping held talks in Beijing, but no statements regarding Ukraine were issued following the meeting.
