Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that even discussions about the possible transfer of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine affect Russia. Moscow rushes to resume dialogue as soon as it hears about the American missiles, according to the President of Ukraine on Telegram and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on Telegram.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the Russian President "is no braver than Hamas or any other terrorist."

"The language of strength and justice will inevitably work on Russia as well. We are already seeing that Moscow rushes to resume dialogue as soon as it hears about the Tomahawks," the Ukrainian leader said.

He expressed hope that US President Donald Trump would help end the war in Ukraine, just as it was done in the Middle East.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russia currently no longer holds any strategic initiative. He emphasized that its only tool is terror against Ukraine’s energy system.

"Today’s conversation between US President Donald Trump and Putin shows that even discussions about Tomahawk missiles have already forced Putin to return to dialogue with America," the Foreign Minister noted.

He called for further decisive actions that would make Putin himself seek ways to end the war.

Trump-Putin meeting

Today, October 16, US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The American leader called the talk productive and announced a new meeting with the Kremlin leader.

Trump stated that he would meet with Putin in Budapest to discuss the possibility of ending the “inglorious” war between Russia and Ukraine.

Officials close to the Russian leader confirmed the possibility of a summit with the US president in Budapest.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, in turn, said that the upcoming Trump-Putin meeting is "great news for the peace-loving peoples of the world."
