Zelenskyy on accession talks: No counterarguments heard from EU leaders
The leaders of the European Union did not present any counterarguments against the commencement of negotiations for Ukraine's accession to the bloc during talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to the Ukrainian leader.
Zelenskyy said this in his address at the summit of EU leaders.
"These days, I've communicated with many of you, and we are talking about the decision that was promised. And I haven't heard any counterargument as to why we should not implement the plan agreed upon by all of Europe. All of Europe," emphasized Zelenskyy.
Talks on Ukraine's EU accession
Today, on December 14, the European Council summit began in Brussels, where one of the main topics is expected to be negotiations regarding Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
Earlier, the European Commission recommended initiating such negotiations in its report. However, at least Hungary is currently opposing this decision.
Hungary's Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, stated today that his country is not against Ukraine joining the EU, but the question of starting the negotiations should be postponed for six months.
