Zelenskyy on 30-day ceasefire: Russia remains silent, we hope for US pressure

Russia has not yet given a meaningful response to the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, while Kyiv is counting on US pressure to force Moscow to end the war, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports.
According to the Ukrainian President, he received a detailed briefing from the Ukrainian delegation regarding their meeting with US representatives in Saudi Arabia. Zelenskyy emphasized that Kyiv is committed to a swift path to peace and is ready to fulfill its role in this process. The Ukrainian leader also welcomed the resumption of US military aid deliveries and intelligence-sharing.
Zelenskyy added that during the talks in Saudi Arabia, the Ukrainian delegation outlined Kyiv's key positions to the American side. In response, the United States expressed readiness to organize technical aspects to monitor compliance with the ceasefire on the front lines.
In addition, the discussions covered security guarantees and further joint steps with European partners.
"Regrettably, for more than a day already, the world has yet to hear a meaningful response from Russia to the proposals made. This once again demonstrates that Russia seeks to prolong the war and postpone peace for as long as possible. We hope that US pressure will be sufficient to compel Russia to end the war," Zelenskyy stated.
30-day ceasefire proposal in Ukraine
The negotiations in Saudi Arabia took place on March 11, during which the Ukrainian and American delegations reached several agreements. In particular, Washington proposed a 30-day ceasefire along the front line, and Kyiv supported the initiative.
Today, a US delegation has arrived in Russia to discuss the ceasefire proposal with the Kremlin.
Meanwhile, Yury Ushakov, a foreign policy aide to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, stated that Russia is not interested in a temporary ceasefire with Ukraine. However, according to Andriy Kovalenko, Head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation, the final decision ultimately rests with Putin.
