Zelenskyy: Not all partners promptly fulfill agreements, calls for expedited supply
Not all of Ukraine's partners promptly deliver the promised weapons. Such deliveries need to be expedited, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference with Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová.
According to Zelenskyy, he discussed the situation on the front line with his Slovak counterpart. In particular, he mentioned Russia's attempts to expand its offensive in the east - in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.
During the talks, the leaders also raised the issue of Ukrainian needs, including weapons, to thwart Russian plans.
"Currently, not all of our partners promptly fulfill agreements. We need the maximum concentration of our friends, Ukraine's friends, to expedite supplies," emphasized Zelenskyy.
He added that Ukraine is grateful to every leader who helps accelerate the transfer of weapons.
Delay in shell transfer
Last year, the European Union countries agreed to supply Ukraine with one million artillery shells during one year. However, during this period, they managed to provide only less than half of the ammunition.
The European industry was not capable of producing such a quantity of shells to be transferred to Ukraine.
In light of this, the Czech president proposed buying ammunition from third countries. A number of Ukraine's allies have allocated funds for this purpose. The first deliveries of shells are expected in June.
