After a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, the most difficult issue in the peace process will be territorial disputes, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"The territorial issue is the most difficult after the ceasefire. Why? Because the ceasefire will unblock the way for the parties to end the war. And the territories, I believe, will be the point that makes it possible to end the war after this issue is resolved," he said.

He emphasized that the ceasefire is challenging because it requires courage and political will. Regarding territorial issues, Zelenskyy noted that a difficult dialogue will be necessary.

He also pointed out that Ukraine’s partners are aware of Ukraine’s red lines. In particular, Ukraine will not legally recognize Russia's control over the occupied territories.

"This is my political will as President, and it is the political will of our people. It is a violation of international law and Ukraine's Constitution," he stated.

A possible ceasefire

This week Ukraine agreed to establish a 30-day ceasefire with Russia. This initiative was proposed by the United States.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin has already begun to set his conditions for such a ceasefire. In particular, he wants guarantees that Ukraine will not be supplied with Western weapons during the ceasefire.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that such conditions only complicate the ceasefire.
