In Ukraine, more than 30,000 people are mobilized every month, while Russia’s mobilization pace is higher, states President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Sky News.

The head of state of Ukraine noted that the country faces a shortage when it comes to mobilizing new soldiers. At the same time, he said that Russia also has problems with personnel — referring to trained troops rather than numbers, as recruits there are sent to the front immediately.

"Officers try to give people good training. We mobilize 30,000 - 34,000 per month. Russia has 10,000 more," Zelenskyy said.

According to him, requests to replenish units still arise because rotations are necessary — people get tired, and morale drops.

"I hope that commanders will manage it better because I think that now a little bit ... I even can't say simple - because it's never simple. But (we have - ed.) some more drones now, some more weapons, and we began use more long-range..." he added.

Mobilization in Ukraine

Last November, President Zelenskyy called the issue of expanding mobilization one of the most difficult for the state, as it requires balancing the army’s needs with the country’s capabilities.

According to the president, military leadership set the draft pace at roughly 30,000 people per month.

The head of state noted that partners raise the question of increasing troop numbers, but they do not directly face the realities on the front lines.

Earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that in 2025, territorial recruitment centers provided about 90 percent of the total number of people who took up the defense of Ukraine during that period.
