Alexander Lukashenko recently made a statement about a possible meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Belarus. However, instead of the dictator, Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya arrived in Ukraine, according to a Telegram channel of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a meeting with foreign representatives, referred to a recent statement by Alexander Lukashenko regarding the need for a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Belarus.

At the same time, the head of state noted with irony that following Lukashenko’s remarks, it was not an official Belarusian delegation that arrived in Ukraine, but rather opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.

"For the first time in this format of ours, there are representatives of Belarus. And recently, Lukashenko said that it is time for the presidents of Ukraine and Belarus to meet. It turned out interestingly: Lukashenko said it, and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya arrived. Also present here are representatives of Belgium, Britain, Finland, the Netherlands, the United States, Slovenia, Moldova, North Macedonia, and Switzerland," the president said.

According to Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Alexander Lukashenko is completely dependent on the Kremlin, and therefore only Russian President Vladimir Putin has real influence over him. She stressed that other international actors are essentially unable to change the Belarusian regime's position or influence decisions made in Minsk.

During her visit to Ukraine, Tsikhanouskaya went to the site of a Russian strike in Kyiv and accused Alexander Lukashenko of involvement in Russia’s actions against Ukraine. According to her, the Belarusian regime bears responsibility for supporting Russian aggression and assisting the Kremlin in the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia continues to use Belarusian territory in its war against Ukraine and to exert pressure on European countries. According to him, jet-powered Shahed-type kamikaze drones are launched from Belarusian territory, and coordination and communications for strikes are also carried out from there.
