Zelenskyy meets with UN Secretary-General and President of 79th General Assembly session
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly Philémon Yang, according to the website of the Presidential Office of Ukraine.
During the meeting with the UN chief, Zelenskyy expressed hope that the organization would respond to the humanitarian needs of Ukrainians, particularly as the country prepares for the winter season.
The President and the UN Secretary-General discussed the implementation of the peace formula, the security situation in Ukraine, and the freedom of navigation in the Black Sea. This is crucial for ensuring the continued operation of transport corridors and the uninterrupted export of Ukrainian agricultural products to global markets.
In his meeting with the President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Philémon Yang, who served as Prime Minister of Cameroon from 2009 to 2019, Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's readiness to cooperate effectively on Yang's priorities.
"It is important for Ukraine that during the 79th Session of the General Assembly, under your presidency, the annual debate on the Ukrainian agenda item ‘Situation in the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine’ is held, as well as that our annual resolution on the situation with human rights in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is adopted," Zelenskyy stated.
The Ukrainian leader also urged Yang to support the peace formula and invited him to visit Ukraine.
