In New York, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to the President's Office.

The head of state expressed gratitude to India for its support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Zelenskyy and Modi discussed the implementation of cooperation in areas agreed upon during the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Kyiv a month ago. This included the activation of trade, economic, and defense cooperation, involving India in post-war reconstruction, as well as collaboration in education, science, and culture.

Particular attention during the meeting was given to strengthening interaction on international platforms, notably within the framework of the UN and G20, as well as the implementation of the Peace Formula and preparations for the second Peace Summit.

Modi in Kyiv

It should be noted that India participated in the Peace Summit but did not sign the communiqué.

During his meeting with Modi in Kyiv, Zelenskyy welcomed India's participation and proposed that it host the next summit. However, for this to happen, New Delhi would need to join the communiqué from the first summit held in Switzerland.

Following Modi's visit to Ukraine, the parties adopted a joint statement.

Recently, Ukraine's Ambassador to India, Oleksandr Polishchuk, stated that Ukraine believes India should play a more active role in ending Russia's war against Ukraine. Kyiv wants India to act as a mediator in the negotiations.
