Zelenskyy meets with Lithuanian President: Discussed frontline situation and Ukrainian forces' needs
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with his Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nausėda on Wednesday, August 23, during Nausėda's visit to Kyiv.
"A meeting with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda. I am grateful for his active participation in the implementation of the goals of the International Crimea Platform and his personal contribution to Lithuania's comprehensive assistance to Ukraine," wrote Zelenskyy.
The presidents discussed the current situation on the battlefield and the urgent needs of Ukrainian defenders. Military and technical assistance, including training and rehabilitation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, is of primary importance.
The presidents also discussed cooperation on food security. Special attention is paid to the development of alternative routes for the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
"We appreciate Lithuania's accession to the Joint Declaration of the G7 on support for Ukraine and readiness for fruitful cooperation in the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the holding of the Global Peace Summit," the head of state emphasized.
Zelenskyy also thanked Nausėda, Lithuania, and the entire Lithuanian people for their significant support for Ukraine.
"The historical unity of our nations brings peace closer for the whole of Europe!" the president noted.
Lithuania's President visits Kyiv
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday, August 23, for an official visit. He came to celebrate Ukraine's Independence Day.
"Back in Kyiv to celebrate Ukraine's Independence Day together with the brotherly Ukrainian nation. Ukraine's victory is near! Lithuania will continue supporting Ukraine as long as it takes!" he tweeted.
