On Tuesday, September 3, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, who arrived in Ukraine on a visit to visit the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, according to the President's Telegram channel.

As noted by the President, the main focus of the talks with the IAEA Director was on strengthening nuclear safety in Ukraine, particularly concerning the unacceptable nature of attacks on Ukrainian nuclear power plants and other energy facilities.

The parties agreed on the need to expand the mandate of the current IAEA observation missions at nuclear power plants in Ukraine to ensure continuous monitoring of the condition of nuclear power plants, as well as substations critical to their operation.

Grossi's visit to Ukraine

Today, on September 3, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), arrived in Ukraine on a visit. He plans to visit Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Before that, on August 27, Grossi visited the Kursk nuclear power plant. After the inspection, he reported a “serious situation” with nuclear safety at the facility.
