IAEA Director General, after visiting Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, speaks of 'serious situation' at facility
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, visited the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant on Tuesday, August 27, according to the IAEA Director General on Twitter (X).
“Was at (Russian) Kursk NPP today, where the situation is serious. Preventing a nuclear accident in this terrible war is vital & attacking any NPP is unacceptable, no matter the location,” Grossi stated.
He noted that the IAEA “will continue to promote nuclear safety and security everywhere.”

Last week, the American news agency Bloomberg reported that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi planned to visit the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant in Russia in the coming days, and then proceed to Kyiv.
He anticipated being able to discuss the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Later, the head of the IAEA confirmed his intention to visit the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, stating that the visit was scheduled for August 27.
