President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may attend the funeral of Pope Francis. The date of the Pope's burial is currently awaited, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing sources.

"The Presidential Office is awaiting the date of the Pope's burial and is preparing the President's visit to Rome to bid farewell to the pontiff," a source told RBC-Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Pope at the Vatican in October of last year. At that time, Zelenskyy presented the pontiff with a painting about the massacre in Bucha.

The funerals of Popes are usually attended by many world leaders. These visits can create potential space for meetings at the highest level.

Death of Pope

On the morning of Monday, April 21, news emerged that Pope Francis had passed away. He died at the age of 88 in his residence at the Vatican's Santa Marta House.
