Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has invited Russian leader Vladimir Putin to hold a bilateral meeting in Kostiantynivka following Putin's claim that Russian forces had captured the city.
Zelenskyy said that on the eve of US Independence Day, Putin chose to lie to the world and to US President Donald Trump about the situation on the battlefield. According to Zelenskyy, Putin's claim that Russian forces had captured Kostiantynivka is false.
"If Kostiantynivka is now under Russian control, then I suppose Putin should have no problem meeting me there and finding diplomatic solutions to finally end the war. But he still won't cross the front line, because the truth is very different from Putin's words," the president said.
Putin's claim about Kostiantynivka
As reported yesterday, July 3, Russian leader Vladimir Putin claimed that Russian forces had captured the city of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region.
However, according to the DeepState map, there is no indication that Kostiantynivka has been captured. The map shows Russian forces near the city, but not in control of it.
Ukraine's General Staff also rejected Putin's claim, stating that his assertion that Kostiantynivka had been "captured" does not correspond to reality. The city remains under the control of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
