Zelenskyy speaks with Witkoff and Kushner on ending the war in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner to discuss ways to end the war.

"We covered many aspects and went through key points that could ensure an end to the bloodshed and eliminate the threat of a new Russian full-scale invasion, as well as the risk of Russia failing to honour its promises, as has happened repeatedly in the past," the president said.

Axios sources say the parties discussed territory and security guarantees. Progress has been made on one of the issues.

On the night of December 5-6, the Russians once again attacked Ukraine with drones and various types of missiles. The enemy's key target was the energy sector.

In Fastiv, Kyiv region, the train station was destroyed, and Ukrzaliznytsia was forced to change train routes. Dnipro was also hit, with a warehouse belonging to the Med-Service pharmacy chain destroyed.

On the night of December 7, Ukraine was again attacked with drones and missiles. Kremenchuk was hit, leaving the city without electricity, heat, or water.

Defense forces struck Ryazan oil refinery and factory producing shell casings

On the night of December 6, 2025, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck military-relevant targets in Russia's Ryazan region and in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.

According to official information, Ukrainian forces hit the infrastructure of the Ryazan oil refinery. There was "a hit on target and damage to the low-temperature isomerization unit," with the extent of the damage still being assessed.
