President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has implemented two more decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine regarding the imposition of new economic sanctions, according to the decrees of the President of Ukraine.

In total, sanctions have been imposed on 51 individuals and 134 companies.

Decree №850/2023

According to the decree, sanctions have been imposed on 8 individuals, including citizens of Cyprus, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation. Additionally, 15 companies, some of which are located in the temporarily occupied Crimea, have come under restrictions.

Decree №851/2023

The list of restrictions includes 119 companies and 43 individuals, among whom are Russians, Ukrainians, and citizens of Latvia.

The sanctions freeze the assets of individuals and legal entities on the territory of Ukraine and prohibit trading with them. The restrictions will be in effect for five to ten years.

Sanctions against Russia

Ukraine has implemented multiple layers of sanctions against Russia and Kremlin-associated oligarchs. As early as the beginning of the invasion in 2022, the National Bank of Ukraine prohibited the circulation of the Russian ruble and closed Russian state banks. Ukrainian courts consistently seize Russian assets. In November, the president put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council regarding new restrictions, which included 147 citizens of Russia and other countries.

Recently, the European Union enacted a new, 12th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, further weakening the Russian military machine.
