President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree introducing sanctions against individuals and legal entities of the Russian Federation, as well as China.

Sanctions have been imposed against 87 entities — 52 individuals (citizens of the Russian Federation) and 35 legal entities (34 tax residents of the Russian Federation and 1 of China).

Among these entities are:

  • companies and their leaders cooperating with Russian industrial enterprises in the Special Economic Zone of industrial-production type Alabuga, supplying components, equipment, and materials for the production of Shahed drones;

  • suppliers of machine tools and other equipment for Russia’s defense industry enterprises.

Today, Zelenskyy issued a decree implementing the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on synchronizing sanctions pressure on Russia with international partners.

Sanctions against Russia

The West imposed sanctions on Russia in response to the occupation of Crimea in 2014 and the full-scale invasion in 2022. These restrictions cover high-tech exports, the banking sector, arms trade, and target hundreds of officials, businessmen, and propagandists.

Recently, meanwhile, EU countries have prepared a draft of the 18th sanctions package against Russia, which includes restrictions on 9 individuals and over 30 legal entities. The main targets of this package are Russia’s energy revenues and defense industry.

In addition, the National Security and Defense Council expanded the sanctions list by adding former traitorous officials: Serhii Arbuzov and Andrii Klyuiev.

Also, Zelenskyy signed a new decree imposing sanctions on the Artek children’s center in Crimea, which is under Russian control. Ukraine has also introduced sanctions against those involved in drone production in Russia.
