Zelenskyy holds meeting of staff of Supreme Commander-in-Chief: Details revealed
On August 6, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a regular meeting of the staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. One of the topics of discussion was the production of missiles in Ukraine
The first issue was the situation at the front, with the Pokrovsk, Toretsk, and Kharkiv directions discussed in particular detail. Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported via video link, that he is currently at the front and keeps the situation under control.
Zelenskyy also says that there were separate reports from the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service on the forecasts of the situation and the goals of the Russians.
Another issue during the meeting was the production of Ukrainian missiles and drones. The participants discussed the needs of Ukrainian defenders by the end of the year and the dynamics of production. Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation Mykhailo Fedorov, and Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn reported on this topic.
"The decision of the State Council allocated additional funding for our missile program. There will be more missiles of our own production," Zelenskyy says.
He adds that Umerov also reported on the provision of weapons and equipment for additional brigades. Work is currently underway with partners.
Background
In March of this year, The Washington Post reported that Ukraine is already producing missiles that can hit targets at a distance of up to 640 kilometers.
At the same time, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently noted that the Ukrainian defense industry is already supplying missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to perform missions. According to him, new tasks have been identified in this regard.
Also, in late July, the head of the Ukrainian state emphasized that Ukraine is approaching the possibility of using missiles of its own production. Thus, dependence on Western countries is decreasing.
