President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The leaders discussed the Ukrainian peace formula, and it was announced that Brazil will participate in the work within this format, states President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The President of Ukraine noted that the meeting with the Brazilian President, which took place in New York (USA), was "important."

"It was an open and constructive conversation. We instructed our diplomatic teams to work on the next steps in bilateral relations and efforts to restore peace," Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian President also added that Brazil's representative will continue to work in meetings related to the Peace Formula.

The meeting between the Presidents of Ukraine and Brazil

The anticipated meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in New York, which was announced for September 20, was previously in doubt and at risk of being canceled. A day before the meeting, there was information that the President of Brazil was leaving the United States early due to complaints of poor health and severe leg pain.

However, on September 20, it was reported by the media that the President of Ukraine would indeed hold a meeting with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. As reported by The Guardian, the Brazilian president had angered some Western leaders who support Ukraine's fight against Russia by refusing to take a clear position on the war.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously emphasized his desire to meet with the Brazilian leader personally, but Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva had ignored this.

Additionally, it was reported that in May, Zelenskyy was unable to meet with his Brazilian counterpart Lula da Silva during the G7 summit.
