Zelenskyy explains why Trump should meet with him before meeting with Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to meet with US President Donald Trump before he holds talks with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, according to the Ukrainian President's interview with Reuters.
"It (a meeting with Trump before his talks with Putin - ed.) is very important, otherwise it will look like a dialogue about Ukraine without Ukraine. It is still important for partners to discuss their issues first, and then have a conversation with the enemy," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He also noted that he does not yet know what compromises could be discussed at the negotiation table. However, according to him, it is important that everyone sees Ukraine is negotiating, not accepting ultimatums from Russia.
"Security guarantees are the main issue I want to talk about with President Trump. And the future is built on the economy - where we are, what we are, people should earn more, and professionals with jobs should live better. And we have absolutely everything for this - we need peace," he clarified.
Trump announces meeting with Zelenskyy
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that he might meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as soon as next week.
According to the American leader, the meeting is expected to take place in Washington, as he does not plan to visit Kyiv for now.
At the same time, Trump noted that he is open to talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, there are no specific details on this matter yet.
