Zelenskyy expects Europe to provide $1 billion each month to purchase US weapons

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expects European countries to allocate $1 billion every month for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine’s defenders, stated the Ukrainian head of state during a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
The President noted that Norway could help provide security guarantees for Ukraine by supplying air defense systems and supporting maritime security.
"Norway has joined the PURL program, which makes it possible to buy weapons in the United States and to fund this program with at least $1 billion per month. I have already mentioned this," Zelenskyy said.
He also added that he had discussed with the Norwegian Prime Minister the production of drones, joint opportunities, and investments that could help force Russia to end the war.
The PURL program
The PURL program (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) is a new US and NATO initiative aimed at speeding up arms supplies to Ukraine. Under this program, Ukraine compiles a list of priority weapons needs, which is then passed on to NATO. Partner countries finance the purchase of American weapons that correspond to this list.
Funds are transferred to a special NATO account, and the weapons are purchased directly in the United States. This ensures rapid and targeted support for the Ukrainian army.
During his meeting with US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that American weapons are of decisive importance for Ukraine.
