Zelenskyy confirms Ukrainian forces presence in Russian Belgorod, Kremlin responds

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement regarding the presence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the Belgorod region, Russia.
Journalists asked Peskov whether the Kremlin could comment on Zelenskyy's statement that the UAF had entered the territory of the Belgorod region.
"Well, this concerns the specifics of the military operation, and therefore such questions should be addressed to our Ministry of Defense," replied Putin's spokesperson.
UAF in Belgorod region
Last month, rumors began circulating that Ukrainian defenders had allegedly breached the border and entered the territory of the Belgorod region. Following these reports, the Russians even announced an evacuation from the Krasnoyaruzhsky district of the Belgorod region.
Additionally, according to the Institute for the Study of War, the Ukrainian Defense Forces recently advanced near Pokrovsk and in the Belgorod region.
However, there was no official information for a long time about the presence of the UAF in the Belgorod region.
It was only yesterday that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his evening address, spoke about the situation at the front and the operation of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk and Belgorod regions of Russia.
"Today, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported separately: the front, our presence in the Kursk region, and our presence in the Belgorod region," Zelenskyy said.
This was the first official mention of the region in combat operations, as before this, Zelenskyy had only hinted at the UAF presence in the Belgorod region.
