Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy listened to the report of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. He provided an update on the situation at the front and the Ukrainian military operation in the Kursk and Belgorod regions of Russia, according to the president's evening address.

"Today, the Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, gave a separate report: the front, our presence in the Kursk region, and our presence in the Belgorod region. We continue active operations in the border areas on enemy territory, and this is absolutely fair – the war must return to where it came from," said Zelenskyy.

He noted that the main goal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation remains to protect Ukrainian land as much as possible, particularly communities in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, from Russian forces.

According to the president, Syrskyi reported on the activity of Ukrainian units specifically along the border line, as well as in the so-called gray zone and directly on enemy territory.

"It is important that, thanks to the bravery and resilience of our soldiers in the Kursk region, and due to the entire Kursk operation, we have been able to reduce the pressure on other parts of the front, particularly in the Donetsk region. It is absolutely critical to continue destroying Russian equipment along the front, as well as all the logistics used by the occupier," said Zelenskyy.

He thanked each unit that ensures results, inflicts losses on the enemy, and defends Ukrainian positions.

"And also – the Belgorod region. Active actions these days – the 225th Assault Regiment. Well done, guys! I am proud of each and every one of you fighting for Ukraine!" added the president.

Rumors about the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Belgorod region

In March, Russian military correspondents began reporting that Ukrainian defenders allegedly breached the border and entered the Belgorod region.

Later, the Russians supposedly announced an evacuation in the Krasnoyaruzhsky district of the Belgorod region.

However, there was no official information regarding the presence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Belgorod region.

At the same time, according to the Institute for the Study of War, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have recently advanced near Pokrovsk and in the Belgorod region.
