The situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains the most difficult on the front line. Ukrainian troops are conducting counteroffensive operations and defending their positions, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Today, he heard a report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, on the situation at the front, Russian disinformation operations, and Russia's plans.
"The most difficult situation is in Pokrovsk, the entire direction, with significant Russian forces - more than 150,000, who continue their assaults - every day, the most attacks are there, this has been going on for many months, and our soldiers, our units must be destroying the Russian troops. We are conducting counteroffensive operations," he says.
Also, according to the President, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are defending their positions on the border between the Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions.
"Kharkiv region - we are defending our positions. Zaporizhzhia - we are defending our positions. Orikhiv direction, Huliaipole direction - we are doing everything to stabilize the situation. Thank you all for your resilience! Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!" Zelenskyy adds.
Fighting for Pokrovsk
The epicenter of the fighting in the Donetsk region remains the Pokrovsk direction, where Russian troops are trying to surround the city from several directions and are transferring additional forces there.
Russian troops took advantage of unfavorable weather conditions, in particular thick fog, and penetrated Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. Currently, there are more than 300 invaders in the city.
Recently, Russian troops on the Selidovo-Pokrovsk highway carried out a massive assault on Pokrovsk using light equipment. It was partially successful.
According to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukrainian defenders continue to defend Pokrovsk. At present, there is no question of Russians controlling the city or the operational encirclement of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to him, the Russians are trying to break through to high-rise buildings in Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad. The Ukrainian military command has already prepared measures against such Russian plans.
Earlier, the 7th Airborne Corps reported that Russians are trying to bypass Pokrovsk and capture the village of Hryshyne, located northwest of the city.
The Russians are unable to capture Pokrovsk itself, as they cannot break through the city's defenses.
In addition, according to the Airborne Forces, Russian troops are “grinding down” in Pokrovsk. The enemy has brought in operational reserves to replenish losses among its personnel.
