Zelenskyy announces week of diplomacy in New York with nearly 20 world leader meetings

Ukraine is preparing for an intense week of diplomacy, with an agenda that includes meetings with nearly 20 world leaders, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He emphasized that Ukraine can achieve a lot if its partners listen to and support proposals that genuinely bring the war closer to an end.
"It will be the week of the UN General Assembly, with various events and meetings. The schedule already includes nearly two dozen meetings with leaders from different countries, from all parts of the world – with everyone who has long supported Ukraine and with our new partners," Zelenskyy said.
He added that the first meetings will begin tomorrow, and a meeting with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, is also planned during the week.
The President announced a summit on the return of Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia, stressing the importance of the week in setting the world on a course for decisive action.
"There will be an important event on the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia – a truly global summit on this issue. It is vital that this week strengthens the world's resolve for robust action – because without strength, peace will not prevail," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that the European Union has already agreed on 19 sanctions packages against Russia, and Ukraine expects these to be approved quickly.
"In recent weeks, other countries — from Japan and Australia to the United Kingdom — have imposed sanctions. Pressure has been applied to the Russian oil fleet and energy trade, as well as to all Russian sanction evasion schemes, including cryptocurrency. I thank Europe for this pressure," he added.
Zelenskyy-Trump meeting
Earlier, Zelenskyy announced to journalists that he will travel to New York for the UN General Assembly, where he will meet with President Donald Trump.
The President said he will speak with Trump about security guarantees for Ukraine. Zelenskyy also mentioned the meeting between Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where they agreed on the issues he and Trump will discuss in New York.
